Ten injured in morning accidents

Ten people, including an 8-month-old baby, were injured in accidents on Monday morning.

TEN people were injured in two separate accidents on Monday morning (19 January). Eight people were injured in a collision between a truck and taxi on the M13 off-ramp to Richmond Road in Pinetown.

Two other people were seriously injured in a collision between a taxi and an off-road motorbike on Main Road in KwaNyuswa, Hillcrest.

Chitra Bodasing, ER24 spokesman, said paramedics arrived on the M13 and found people on the grass on the side of the road.

“One patient sustained moderate injuries and seven others, among them an eight-month-old baby girl, sustained minor injuries.

In KwaNyuswa, when paramedics and other services arrived on the scene, the taxi was already being moved off the road. The patients, the taxi driver and motorbike rider, were assessed and treated for serious injuries.

“The patients were treated on scene and taken to hospital. The exact cause of the two collisions is unknown at this stage,” said Bodasing.

Local authorities attended the scene for further investigation.
