Lahee BMX Club is looking for new members

BMX riding is a great way for families to have fun and get fit.

Lahee BMX Club, situated at Lahee Park, Pinetown, is looking to encourage new members to join the club and raise funds to improve the existing facilities.

The Club, which is now going into its second season of racing, started in January 2014 and already has around 40 members, ranging from four years of age right through to their cruiser class.

The BMX Club boasts one main track, three pump tracks suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced riders, as well as their own Club House. The Club is family orientated and encourages weekend get- togethers to ride and practice as a team. The emphasis is on coaching and helping riders enjoy the sport to its fullest.

Tim O’Brien, chairman of Lahee BMX Club, said, “No BMX experience is needed, we encourage all youngsters and families to get involved. We have standard training from 2pm on Saturdays and invite people to come along and try it out. All bikes are welcome and we have coaches and experienced riders on hand every weekend to teach and help with any training needed. It is a great way to develop bike skills and confidence.”

“We are constantly looking to upgrade our facilities, if there are any businesses who would like to align themselves with us, we are always extremely grateful.”

The club is currently raffling a booze hamper valued at R2200 for R20 a ticket to go towards track upgrades. Tickets and raffle sheets can be arranged from Tanya Perry on 082 4158977.
