Local teens missing from children’s home

Two teenage girls disappeared from the Malvern Children's Home over the busy festive season.

THE MALVERN SAPS is on the search for two Malvern Children’s Home teenagers who went missing over the festive season. The two girls, aged 13 and 14, were last seen by their house mother at the home on Tuesday, 23 December, 2014.

Britney Alisha Govender is 13 years old and is 1,6m tall, slender and weighs 45kg, while Brinley Govender is 14 years old, is also slender and 1,6m in height but weighs 50kg.

Although the two share the same surname, they are not related and are not believed to be together.

“The two girls share a surname but are not in any way related; we also do not think they have run off together as they are not even friends, they just live in the same home.

“We have followed all possible leads and have reached a dead end. We urge the community to be on the look-out for the girls,” said Amanda Botha, spokesman for the home.

According to Amanda, one of the girls is an orphan while the other has one surviving parent.

“The police have searched for her at Brinley’s dad’s home, which is in the Pinetown vicinity, but she was not found. We have also asked relatives of Britney’s in Chatsworth to assist us with the search for these two young girls,” she added.

Should anyone have information about either of the missing girls, they are asked to contact the investigating officer, D/W/O Moodley on 031 489 9626 or 031 489 9629.
