Early deadline for Midmar Mile extended

Enter before 20 December to get a discounted price on entries.

The early entry deadline for the 2015 aQuellé Midmar Mile has been extended until midnight on Friday, 19 December.

Entries currently cost R180, but will increase to R210 from Saturday, 20 December until final closing date on 19 January, except for swimmers wishing to enter at the official registration, which runs from 4 to 6 February at Pietermaritzburg Seals Swimming Club and at the Midmar Dam on 7 and 8 February.

“For safety reasons, all entrants will be required to submit qualifying times. This will ensure that they are placed in the correct batches, which will enable more effective monitoring of the swimmers. All swimmers are urged to be honest about their qualifying times because the safety of competitors is the organisers’ primary concern,” said Event organiser, Wayne Riddin.

Qualifying times may be recorded at open water swimming events or in swimming pools at schools or gyms over a distance of 1000 metres.Novices will be able to enter the Midmar Mile without a qualifying time. They will, however, be required to purchase a Safer Swimmer safety device at the cost price of R100. Swimmers who are registered but have not swum qualifying times will not be required to purchase the Safer Swimmer.

TheN3 Toll Concession (N3TC) Chill Zone has been introduced to further enhance the safety measures at the Midmar Mile. Located at the finish, it will be responsible for assessing the condition of every swimmer removed from the water by the Water Safety Committee.
