Roaring donation from Miss Junior Highway

A large donation of goods will be distributed to various charitable organisations this festive season.

JUST a few weeks after being crowned Miss Junior Highway, Tatum van Tonder is ensuring she fulfils her social responsibilities by making her first large donation to the Lions Club of Cowies Hill.

The five-year-old June’s Pre-Primary School pupil started a drive at her school to collect second hand books and second hand shoes as well as food for the Kloof and Highway SPCA. During that time she collected a few bags of food, more than two boxes of clothing and a flurry of new and second hand toys and books.

“When we hosted the competition it was not just about beauty, but teaching the children about community service and becoming involved. What she has done will be greatly received by the SPCA and the various charitable organisations in the Highway area,” said Lyn Botha, president of the Lions Club of Cowies Hill. She thanked the school, the parents and the children for their generosity.

The Lions serve the community and should anyone wish to become involved, contact Lyn Botha on 083 262 9153.
