Three injured in Mariannhill crash

Three people were injured when a car smashed into a small truck in Old Richmond Road.

THREE people suffered minor injuries when the car they were travelling in t-boned a scrap collecting truck on Old Richmond Road earlier today (Tuesday, 2 December) just before 10am.

ER24’s Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived, they found a light motor vehicle partially wedged beneath a scrap metal truck which sat in the middle of the road.

“Paramedics were relieved to find that the three occupants of the light motor vehicle had sustained only minor injuries. They carefully removed the patients from the vehicle and treated them for their injuries before transporting them to the Hillcrest Private Hospital for further observations,” Meiring added.

It is believed the truck was making a U-turn in front of the light motor vehicle when the car smashed into it. Police were on scene and will investigate the accident.
