Rural dogs benefit from Wag-A-Tail campaign

Dogs in the Inanda Valley area provided with good quality dog food.

The Robin Hood Foundation had a fantastic response from the community who willingly opened up their hearts and wallets to support the newly launched Wag-a-Tail campaign.

They were able to collect 4 tons of dog food for Jenny Konigkramer’s Inanda Dog project which will be used to feed rural dogs in the areas of Inanda and Embo.

On 26 November, RHF members, volunteers and Royal Canin staff teamed up with Jenny Konigkramer to deliver some of the dog food to the Riverview Township residents who have come to rely on Jenny’s help in giving their animals the best chance possible.

Kim Griffith Jones, co-ordinator for RHF said, “Her work in the community is remarkable. The dogs she’s been feeding for the past three years know her vehicle, submissive and terrified of us as strangers, they run up to her – tails wagging. It is incredible to witness.”

Royal Canin, who were instrumental in providing a large portion of the food, also sent knowledgeable reps to help ensure the animals received the correct food designed for each dog based on age, breed and condition. They also gave the owners much appreciated advice on animal care.

RHF also handed out 65 Gogo bags and 65 bales of chips donated by Imbazo to the grateful residents.

RHF chairman, Cindy Norcott said, “This project and these animals are a cause close to my heart and I am so incredibly grateful to every single person and company – especially Royal Canin for their massive donation of food and The Dog Food Dude for all the little starter packs for puppies – for getting involved and helping us to make even a small difference in the lives of these animals”.
