Kloof Conservancy launches Bio-Guide

Kranzkloof Nature Reserve embraces technology.

The breath taking views of the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve provided the backdrop to the Kloof Conservancy’s Bio-Guide launch.

The reserve is the first Ezemvelo Reserve to adopt the new QR Code information system where by 26 QR barcode labels will be fixed throughout the reserve. By scanning the barcodes, visitors to the reserve will be directed to the Kloof Conservancy Bio-Guide website where the relevant information about the object of interest will be available in both English and Zulu.

“The info will be local, relevant and interesting. Through responsive technology, we want to attract a broader community and attract children to the reserve,” said Paolo Candotti, chairman of the Kloof Conservancy.

“We always strive to find new ways to promote environmental issues and to create interest in the environment for the residents of Kloof and in this case visitors to the reserve. I think we are breaking new ground for nature reserves in KZN and maybe even SA.”
