Conference to turn pain into power

The Choose Life Conference features powerful speakers with real stories.

TASH REDDY, the founder of Widowed SA, along with two other speakers will present a Choose Life Conference at the Westville Country Club’s The Venue, 1 Link Road, in Westville on Sunday, 14 December at 1pm.

Tash was widowed seven years ago. Her husband, aged 29, died tragically in a car accident. She was 29, pregnant and had an 18-month-old son at the time.

“In a space of a week I lost everything I knew to be my life – my husband, my baby, my home and my job as a journalist. Alone and desperately depressed I had no idea where to turn or who to turn to. As the only person in my family who lost a spouse no one could relate or give me the support I needed,” said Tash.

She approached various organisations, religious institutions and government bodies without any assistance. No one could offer support to a widow. So she pooled her resources and network list and opened Widowed SA.

The organisation has provided support to thousands of men and women around the country and as far afield as the US, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, England, Swaziland and Nigeria.

She also published a booked titled, Widow Without and next month plans to launch The Widowed SA magazine – a must-have tool for anyone who has encountered loss.

The Choose Life Conference is a life-changing, encouraging and hope-filled event dedicated to those who have lost loved ones. Go along to hear real stories by powerful speakers who turned their pain into power. They will inspire you, elevate you and give you the tools to survive the heartache, and live your best life still.

Jamie-Lee Clinton and Roxanne Mulder are the two speakers. Jamie lost her mother and sister at a young age and didn’t know how to deal with it. Roxanne’s husband died in a car crash when she was eight months pregnant. Their passion is to help others.

The MC is Alfred Ntombela, also know as Shorty from Leon Schuster movies.

Tickets for the conference is R200 each. Child care is available at R50 per child. To book, contact Tash Reddy, Jamie-Lee Clinton or Roxy Mulder via e-mail at chooselife@widowed.co.za or visit the website, www.widowed.co.za
