Chaka was stabbed to death – SACCW

Post mortem results reveal how Chaka died.

POST mortem results revealed that the Shongweni K9 Unit’s Chaka, who was missing for 10 days last month, was stabbed by his attackers.

According to Steven King of the South African Community Crime Watch, Col Thulani Sithole confirmed that Chaka was stabbed four times and his wounds was on his left side, his head and between his ribs near his heart. It is believed that Chaka was biting the suspect on his arm, when it happened.

“Investigations are still underway. Rest in peace Chaka, and let’s pray that justice will be served,” said King.

The search was called off on Saturday, 25 October after his body was discovered under some reeds on the river bank in the vicinity of Wiltshire Road.

Chaka, a large Rottweiler (weighing approximately 50 kg), went missing while chasing housebreaking suspects in the vicinity of Wiltshire Road, off Hans Dettman Highway in Pinetown on Friday, 17 October. A reward of R8000 was offered for the dog’s safe return while extensive searches covered the area where he disappeared.

A search party made up of a group of volunteers went out on Saturday and made the unfortunate discovery.
