KZN MEC Ms Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni visited Star College in Westville North on Tuesday 12 November to acknowledge the school’s high results and outstanding academic performance.
The honourable Nkonyeni walked around the school and visited pupils in the classroom. The pupils were excited and warmed to the humble manner in which she spoke to everyone.
While she was visiting the classrooms she met the International Junior Science Olympiad team – Kameel Pillay, Kenan Ethan Ganesan, Damien Lawrence Naidoo, Keaton Lawrence Naidoo, Darshen Bhawani, and Tyrique Byroo.
She said she was aware of this annual competition in science for pupils aged 15 or younger. It involves individual and team competitions in the natural sciences – in physics, chemistry and biology. She motivated these pupils with her encouraging words and wished them well as they go to Argentina on 2 December. She was impressed that the team representing South Africa were all from Star College.
