Matric boys honoured at awards evening

The school headmaster, Trevor Hall, wished them well for their final exam.

WESTVILLE Boys’ High School held its Grade 12 speech night and prize-giving recently.

Sanav Singh was named the Dux and Akshay Rampersad was Proxime Accessit. Jacques Bleeker received the Mickey Arthur trophy for Sporting Excellence, Jesse Smit received the Silver Jubilee Sportsman of the Year, Yuric Thambiran received the Lester-Hall Cup for Good Fellowship and the Headmaster’s Award, Keegan Crawford received the Creative Spirit Award and Bruce Kerr received the WBHS Scholarship 2014.

Other prize winners included Suhail Gangaram who received the Gerald Sweidan Award, Fahmidul Islam (Lions Denis Hamilton Award for Altruistic Service), Richard Ogg (Leadership Through Service Award and Governing Body Chairperson’s Award), Richard Carkeek (Walton Cup for Service to the School), Nadir Meherjina (Old Boys Award for Service to the Community), Andile Zulu (Walton Scroll for Dramatics) and Byron Erasmus received the Durban Men’s Choir Award.
