Kloof SPCA experiences quiet Guy Fawkes

The message about animals and fireworks seems to getting through.

The Kloof & Highway SPCA were pleased to report that Guy Fawkes was a quiet night for their staff and volunteers.

Their after-hours emergency number received only two calls on the night, which were unrelated to Guy Fawkes or fireworks, and one stray female German Shepherd dog was brought into the standby kennels from the Hillcrest area. Luckily she had a microchip and the Kloof & Highway SPCA were able to re-unite her quickly with her family.

“We would like to thank our community for exercising responsibility with the loud bangs that frighten the animals. Every year the Kloof & Highway SPCA appeal to the community to prepare and to take steps to protect their pets during the Fireworks season, and we will continue to do so,” said Barbara Patrick, Manager of Kloof SPCA.
