Caltex stations run dry of ULP

Caltex service station in the Highway area and other parts of Durban have run out of fuel.

CALTEX service stations around the Highway area and other parts of Durban are running out of petrol, and are forced to turn away customers.

Sister paper, Berea Mail, reported that a notice from Chevron South Africa stated that one of Chevron’s major industry partners has experienced a refinery shut down which has affected its ability to supply diesel and mogas (petrol) into various pipeline facilities.

Local stations that have had no choice but to turn customers away included Caversham Motors, Gillitts Service Station and Hillcrest Village Motors.

Sydney Rosseau from Caversham Motors said his station ran out of unleaded fuel two days ago and added he only expects another delivery on Saturday.

Gillitts Service Station and Hillcrest Village Motors both ran out of unleaded fuel yesterday (Wednesday, 5 November) afternoon.

Both stations anticipated a delivery by tonight (Thursday, 6 November).

The only garage that still had unleaded fuel by Thursday afternoon was Atholl Heights Service Station.

  1. the story is pretty much the same in the Durban North , Umhlanga area with regards to Caltex garages. I tried phoning the Chevron offices in Durban. These characters cannot even take a message. I tried contacting another Chevron official(Douglas). He refused to speak to me , asking me to put in writing.Their arrogance is astounding. Here’s the thing. Caltex has not put out a statement regarding the shortage and the owners of these garages are sitting back as though nothing has happened. NO ACCOUNTABILITY AS USUAL.
