PBHS top sport pupils awarded

NKANYISO Nzimande, Mndeni Sthe Mbatha and Merlin van Wyk were the main prize winners at the Pinetown Boys High School sport awards.

Sports Man of the Year award was awarded to Nkanyiso who is the school soccer captain, 100 and 200m inter-house school champion, first team rugby, KZN soccer U15 in 2012, U16 in 2013 and U19 in 2014.

Mndeni Sthe Mbatha and Merlin van Wyk shared an award for the Most Versatile Sportsman.

Mndeni is an athletic who also plays cricket 1st team, rugby 1st team and 2012 U15 Soccer.

Merlin was awarded as he is a captain for athletics, debate, tennis, he has also played 1st team hockey and in 2013 broke the U16 200m record which stood for 20 years.

The guest speaker was the former African Warriors player Steve Bezuidenhout who is now AmaZulu head of development.

Bezuidenhout spoke to the young sportmen about the importance of sport.

He said sport teaches young men discipline and unite them.
