A NEW Germany father was convicted and sentenced to 18 years for raping his seven-year-old daughter. The Pinetown Magistrate’s court convicted and sentenced the accused to 18 years imprisonment.
Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Cst Phindile Radebe said, it is alleged that between 2013 and 2014 the accused raped his daughter at home in New Germany when the mother was not at home.
“On Friday, 8 August, the victim informed her mother that her father had been raping her since 2013 and told her that he would kill her if she tells anyone.
“A case of rape was opened at the Pinetown police station and the Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit took over the docket,” said Radebe.
The accused was later arrested and charged for rape and when he appeared in court bail was denied.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences Unit for the great job of thoroughly investigating the case.
“This is a disgraceful and barbaric deed, we expect the men to protect their families not to harm them. Our member will make sure that justice is served to all susceptible citizens of this province,” she said.
