Man missing in 40km pipeline found

The body of the man who fell down the open shaft of a 40 kilometer pipeline two days ago has been found.

THE body of the man who fell down an open shaft just moments after repairing a pipe just passed Inanda Dam has been found by divers.

SAPS Search and Rescue, Netcare 911, IPSS Medical Response and other emergency services searched the pipeline earlier today (Thursday, 30 October) and found the man’s body just five kilometers away from where he fell down the shaft.

Police reported that his body was mangled up between reinforcement bars.

Search and Rescue inspected two areas along the 40km pipeline on Tuesday, 28 October, but by the following morning had still not found his remains.

The water that feeds the pipe from Nagel Dam was switched off at 4am yesterday morning for about four hours in the hope that rescue services would recover his body.

The search begins for the missing man’s body.
