SPCA kennels at capacity

Highway residents with missing pets are urged to see if their animals are being sheltered at the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

EVEN though only a few loud bangs were heard throughout the Highway area last night, the standby kennels at the local SPCA are now at capacity.

According to Lisa Gadd, the PR and outreach officer at the Kloof and Highway SPCA, the NPO was open to the public last night for stray animals found wandering the streets due to fireworks.

“Although a few animals were brought in to our standby kennels last night, our kennels are now full. Many members of the public found animals last night and were able to keep them overnight and bring them in to the SPCA today,” said Gadd.

She encouraged pet owners with missing pets to visit the kennels to see if their animals were taken to the shelter for safety purposes.

“We are anticipating tonight to be busier and we urge all pet owners to prepare and to take steps to protect your pets during the fireworks season,” urged Gadd.
