Prized Commonwealth Games sweatshirt stolen

A local gymnastics coach's Glasgow Commonwealth Games sweatshirt was stolen and he now appeals for its return.

JESSE Kitzen-Abelson, the SA men’s artistic gymnastics coach at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this year, lost one of his most prized possessions when his green Erke Commonwealth Games hoodie was stolen near Lahee Park.

The local coach said he woke up to screaming at 5.55am on Monday, 20 October, because his landlord saw a man on his property stealing Kitzen-Abelson’s clothes.

“By the time I came out, I saw nothing, as the criminal was gone and was nowhere to be found. We patrolled around Lahee Park and the surrounding area, but saw nothing,” he said.

Kitzen-Abelson said the thief removed the spikes from his wall, hopped over, took his clothes from the laundry line, and jumped over the wall again.

“He was wearing a grey hoodie and darker grey pants. He took three things, my priceless Commonwealth Games hoodie (soft shell jacket with Erke embroidered on), a shirt and green long pants. I couldn’t care less if he keeps the other clothes, but want to recover my special hoodie,” he said.

Kitzen-Abelson appealed to the public to keep an eye out for his sweatshirt and asked that he be contacted on 078 570 2016 if it is spotted.
