Kloof High learner accelerates to Science finals

Kloof High learner's fascination with roller coasters inspiration for science project.

Kloof High School Grade 9 learner, Dashal Naidoo received a bronze award at the finals of the Young Scientists National Competition held in Gauteng from 7 to 10 October.

At the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, she received a silver medal for her project which qualified her for the finals.

For her award-winning project, Dashal designed and built a Magnetic Accelerator. Her fascination for roller coasters led to her investigating the use of magnets and the manner in which they are used to propel an object forward.

Other Kloof High School Grade 9 learners who too part in the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists were Taygin Gibbons (Highly Commended), Emily Kyllönen (Silver), Lisa Moon (Highly Commended), Bradley Wickens (Silver), Jarryd Amarchand (Bronze), Themba Dube (Bronze) and Caera Wallace (Silver).
