Spring downpour to continue till weekend

The disaster centre said no incidents, due to the wet weather, were reported in the Highway area.

THE welcome sight of raindrops will continue until the start of the weekend.

According to Accuweather, there will be scattered showers until Friday, with the weekend clearing up as the weather service promises sunny weather on Saturday and Sunday.

The eThekwini Municipality’s Disaster Management Centre said there was no damage reported to the Highway area since the downpour started.

Netcare 911 reported that two men sustained critical injuries when a retaining wall collapsed on Umhlanga Rocks Drive in uMhlanga earlier today (Wednesday 1 October), but the disaster centre said no cases were reported in the Highway area.

South Coast residents ran for safety as golf ball-size hail pummeled their cars and homes late yesterday afternoon. It was believed the storm was moving towards Durban at an alarming pace, but the storm dissipated before hitting Durban’s shores or inland.
