CHILDLINE KZN has recently announced that they are on the road to recovery after they were on the brink last year when they were left with four months of funding in their coffers.

In a statement the organisation, whose crisis line receives close to 350 calls a year from abused children, said “they were fully on th road to recovery”. Just over a year ago Childline KZN was on the brink of closure with four months of funding left in its coffers. ” Our organization was thrown into crisis after a decline in corporate and other funding over the previous three year period. Despite several desperate appeals, change only came after a benevolent group was set up”, they said. Childline, conducts close to 7000 individual therapy sessions a year and said recently that they were rescued due to the efforts of the innovative and benevolent team of local businessmen and women who put a plan and strategy in place and started up the “Superheroes Campaign”. They then hosted their first live telethon, called “Herothon” and raised R1.2 million. Through the joint efforts of the team and generous helpers they managed to raise R3 million.
