Dawncliffe robbery ‘first in two years’

After nearly two years of being incident-free, Dawncliffe was rocked by a house robbery this week.

FIVE robbers tied up a domestic worker and ransacked a house in Willies Road on Tuesday, 16 September. It is believed the men were not armed.

The Dawncliffe Westville Community Watch reported on its Facebook page that this robbery was the first of its kind in nearly two years.

It has been reported that access to the property was gained by forcing the driveway gates open. It is believed the domestic worker was tied up and electronic goods were stolen.

The watch reported that there were about four to five robbers who arrived and left in a car. No further details or a description of the car or robbers were available.

“Folks, this delivered a strong message, we cannot let our guard down. Of recent we have not had too many new volunteers joining and we need more, lots more.

“To the guys out there reading this: please join, to the women: please speak to your husbands and boyfriends and get them to join. We also ask that you speak to your friends in the area that are not on the social media group and relay this message,” read the post.
