Man sentenced for daughter’s rape

A 15-year-old girl phoned her mom right after the rape occurred and a case was opened at the Hillcrest SAPS.

A 40-YEAR-OLD father was convicted and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment yesterday at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court for the rape of his teenage daughter.

It is alleged that a 15-year-old girl visited her father and grandmother in Waterfall on 17 December 2013, at about 10pm.

“The father, on the very same day, called the teen to his room and asked her whether she had a boyfriend. He then told her that he was going to teach her how to approach life as she grows up and raped her,” said Captain Thulani Zwane, provincial spokesman for the SAPS.

The distraught teen phoned her mother and a case of rape was opened at the Hillcrest SAPS. The Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) took over the investigation and the father was arrested.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, commended the members of the Unit (FCS) for their outstanding work that led to the conviction of the father.
