13 injured in Friday morning accidents

A total of 13 people were injured in three accidents this morning.

Thirteen people were injured in three separate accidents in Pinetown this morning.

In Caversham Road, at about noon today (Friday, 5 September), 11 people were injured when a taxi crashed.

ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring, said it is believed the taxi’s brakes failed, which caused the taxi to come to rest in a bush, about 15 meters from the roadway.

“Paramedics on scene found that 11 people suffered minor injuries. They were transported to St Mary’s Hospital,” Meiring added.

In another accident earlier this morning, at about 7.30am, a motorcyclist knocked over a pedestrian at the intersection of Richmond and Surprise Roads in Westmead.

Meiring said the motorcyclist was uninjured and managed to control his bike, stopping not far from the accident scene.

“Paramedics on scene suspected that the pedestrian suffered a fractured leg and he was then transported to RK Khan Hospital,” he said.

In High Street, New Germany, a taxi and car crashed just before 8am. It is unclear what caused the accident, but Meiting said only one person suffered minor injuries.
