THE Pinetown man accused of repeatedly raping his seven-year-old daughter, has been denied bail.
The mother and daughter, whose names cannot be revealed to protect the identity of the victim, sighed with relief as the magistrate declared that the accused had been denied bail, on Monday, 18 August.
During his first court appearance the father pleaded guilty to the rape charges. His case was postponed to 3 September, and he has remained in police custody at the Westville Prison.
*Zoe was requested to provide her testimony to the court on Friday, 22 August. Dressed in a Hello Kitty t-shirt, the young girl bravely testified to her ordeals.
According to Zoe’s mother the seven-year-old still harbours intense anger and frustration. “She still suffers from a lot of nightmares. She will never be the same, and she still fears that he will return, and continue hurting her,” she said.
The family hopes that the sentencing will commence soon. “We are eager to move forward and try to get things as normal as possible, so that the healing process can begin,” said the mother.
