Tashic is a science whiz

Star College Boys' High School has chosen Grade 10 pupil, Tashic Nataal, as its SPAR Star of the Month.

STAR College Boys’ High School acknowledged Tashic Nataal, a Grade 10 pupil, for his outstanding achievement at the FSS Science Expo held from 31 July to 1 August at the Edgewood Campus Conference Centre.

The 15-year-old entered category 39, which is electronics and robotics. The title of his project was Autonomous Automobile.

“The competition was fierce and I was very nervous. The judges asked various questions covering each section of the project. The aim of the project was to see if it was possible to build a system that could be successfully up-scaled and can avoid obstacles on the road to save lives,” said Tashic.

The awards ceremony took place on the second day. Tashic was honoured to receive a gold medal and the “Best Senior Entry” title.

“I was glad that my friends and my school did so well,” he said.

He looks forward to the next expo. Tashic is involved in the science week at UKZN during the week from 6 August and he is entering the Eskom Expo mid August. Star College is very proud of him and wishes Tashic all the best for his future.
