Proud mom wins Mrs India pageant

Pinetown resident who was recently crowned Mrs India SA is grateful to everyone who supported her.

WIFE and mother of two children, Tracy Maharaj was crowned Mrs India SA at Sibaya Isizulu Theatre in Durban on Women’s Day, Saturday, 9 August.

Excited and proud, Tracy who resides in Pinetown was chosen among 10 finalists from all over the country.

In this competition, judges look for a brand ambassador for women, someone who could create a platform and be a role model for all married women.

“The woman who is chosen is someone that they can look up to and be proud of to prove that life does not end after marriage or children and you can achieve anything you desire with a positive attitude. With the support of family and friends the possibilities are endless,” said Tracy.

Tracy believes that being a peoples person, staying confident and being simple is what played a vital role in her character.

“The news has still not sunk in yet, I was overwhelmed and could not believe it. All 10 women were beautiful and unique in their own way.

“It was a tough competition and I was even more taken aback when I won Mrs Photogenic and Mrs Philanthropist. When my name was announced as the winner it took me a long time to get onto stage as I was congratulated back stage by everyone and could not hold back the tears. I was ecstatic and proud of my accomplishment and new the hard work and sacrifice that went into winning the title.

Tracy is the Brand Ambassador for CANSA SA, the ABH Homes in Chatsworth and her key focus during her reign is to open a shelter for abused women which will include skills development and counselling to help them cope.

“I received overwhelming support at the show and throughout the campaign from my family (my husband and children), colleagues and friends.

“I also had support from big brands like Mehmsaab, Rahista Gopal who was my personal stylist ( The face of Red Square), Thomas More College, Ansana, Fast Track Shopfitters, VNA Consulting, D & H Flooring, RMA Consulting and many more that helped me throughout my campaign. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you all and may you prosper from strength to strength, may God bless you all,” said Tracy.

She added that she wants to ensure Mrs India SA is recognised and will gather support from her sponsors and colleagues to ensure married women are given the attention they deserve.
