Highway drug labs linked

The three men implicated in a recent drug bust deny any knowledge of drugs being manufactured on the Kloof property.

THE three men who were arrested in connection with the drug bust in Everton Road in Kloof, applied for bail at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The accused, Wing Lik Wong (58), Kin Hung Yip (56) and Warren Daniels (24) were charged for manufacturing drugs, namely methaqualone, a base ingredient of mandrax.

The drug bust took place on 24 June, where police that raided the home surmised they had confiscated more than R3billion worth of heroin.

Once a forensic analysis was completed on a portion of the confiscated narcotics, it was discovered that the worth of the confiscated goods was about R20million. The owner of the Everton home, Junaid Rasool was also charged.

It was reported that the investigating officer, Col Amod Khalil Hoosen, said there was a definite link between the Crestholme drug lab and the Everton drug lab as documentation containing Daniels’s name was found at the other property.

All three men that appeared in the court denied being part of or had any knowledge of drug manufacturing in the Kloof home.

The bail application is set to continue this week.
