Hindu devotees celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna

ISKCON devotees will celebrate the auspicious occasion of Lord Krishna's birth at the Pinetown Civic Centre this Saturday 2 August at 5pm.

HINDUS across the highway area are invited to join the Pinetown branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), founded by His divine grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, in celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna at the Pinetown Civic Hall on Saturday 2 August at 5pm.

All residents of Pinetown and surrounding areas are invited to attend and participate in the celebratory atmosphere that has become synonymous with this annual event.

New Germany Primary School’s choir will pay tribute to ISKCON well wisher, President Nelson Mandela, when he made the world famous utterance of children at the ISKCON Food for the Life Festival on 23 April, 1997.

He was quoted saying: “It always gives me great pleasure to be surrounded by the beautiful children of our land. Whenever I am with the energetic young people … I feel like a recharged battery, confident that our country can look forward to great things.”

ISKCON prides itself in fulfilling the ideals of President Mandela in sharing his love for children, by having 23 of them perform in a star attraction play on the pastimes of Lord Krishna.

People from all backgrounds are encouraged to attend the cultural extravaganza and are reminded not to leave before sampling the deliciously prepared treats from the East.
