Girl (6) hit by bus
Paramedics were able to stabilise the girl and place her on a ventilator before transporting her to a hospital.
A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl had to fight for her life after a bus drove over her near Cliffdale Primary School in Hammarsdale on Monday afternoon.
“A report from the scene indicated that the child was running next to the bus when she lost her footing and landed under the wheels,” said Chris Botha, media spokesman for Netcare 911.
He said that it was a gravel road.
“Her friends may have been in the bus, which may explain why she was running next to it. The bus was stopped immediately after the passengers began screaming,” said Botha.
When paramedics arrived at the scene they found the child lying on the ground with life threatening injuries.
According to Botha, the injuries covered the middle of her body, and were more severe around the pelvis and leg areas.
“After she was stabilised and placed on a ventilator, paramedics transported her to the Nkosi Albert Luthuli hospital,” he said.
