MATRIC pupils, Daniel Bonaconsa and Sarah McQuilliam, from Hillcrest High School, recently competed in the South African Championships of Performing Arts (SACOPA) where contestants could enter multiple categories such as vocal, dance, acting, instrumental and modelling.
Daniel won a medal for dramatic acting and Sarah won nine medals in a variety of categories – one gold, seven silver and a bronze. Sarah qualified for Team South Africa that competed in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles in July. However, she has chosen to focus on her matric studies instead.
Both pupils agreed that the experience was enlightening, the standard exceptionally high and the talent incredible.
Performers came from around South Africa and were also from a wide range of age groups.
