Two injured in M7 collision

The Jaws of Life were needed to remove the occupants from the Polo, which overturned on the M7 this afternoon.

TWO people were seriously injured when two cars collided along the M7 near the Winston Churchill off ramp this afternoon.

According to Chris Botha, media spokesman for Netcare 911, the accident happened at about 12.30pm when a bakkie collided into the rear of a VW Polo.

They were travelling towards Durban. The Polo then overturned and came to rest on its side and the occupants were trapped inside the car.

“Paramedics and their rescue unit arrived at the scene and found the two occupants were seriously injured. While the rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to free the injured from the Polo, medics climbed into the vehicle to stabilise them,” said Botha.

After they were extracted and immobilised on a trauma board, they were taken to a local hospital.
