Wendy leads Rotary Club of Pinetown

This year's theme is 'Light up Rotary'.

ROTARY Club of Pinetown inducted Wendy Mayall as the 61st President of the Rotary Club of Pinetown at Doone Village in Pinetown on Saturday 12 July.

Wendy spoke of Rotary International President Gary C K Huang’s challenge to ‘Light up Rotary’ in 2014-2015, which is this year’s theme.

She encouraged each Rotarian to examine themselves in the application of this theme in their daily lives by “lighting up ourselves, our enthusiasm, our clubs, our communities, our country and the world.”

She asked how Rotarians are called to “Light up Rotary” and how can Rotarians apply “light” in the work done in service to others? She suggested a few examples – lighten the load of everyday living to those less privileged, the elderly and the young. To delight and give pleasure and enjoyment while going about providing service and enlighten and spread the light and open minds to further educational opportunities.

“The light that shines the farthest shines brightest at home,” she added.

Wendy also announced the Board for 2014-2015 at the induction. Cheryl Marx will be the secretary, Carolyn Higgs and Jenny Reid as treasurers, Bill Draper as community service director, Robert White as club administration director, Michael Potter as membership director, Jacqui van Zyl as public relations director, David Love as the Rotary Foundation director and Margaret Keogh as the youth director.
