AfriForum takes on highway electricity theft

Afriforum will submit a charge on behalf victims of electricity theft.

Minority rights group AfriForum has announced it will submit a criminal charge at the Hillcrest Police Station in KwaZulu-Natal against electricity thieves of the Stockville Valley informal settlement in Gillitts.

This comes after repeated electricity outages in the area due to an additional load on the power supply network allegedly caused by illegal power connections in the settlement.

AfriForum says it will submit the charge on behalf of taxpayers who approached the group after calls they made to the eThekwini Municipality regarding the illegal settlement proved futile.

AfriForum would submit the charge at 10am today.
