Motorists to fill up ahead of fuel price hike

The price of fuel is set to go up at midnight.

SOUTH Africans will have to tighten their belts even more this winter as the price of fuel is set to increase at midnight.

The Department of Energy’s announcement of the fuel price adjustments for July will see the price of petrol rise by as much as 31 cents per litre and the price of diesel by 14 cents per litre.

The fuel prices will be adjusted as follows:

1. Diesel will increase by 14 cents/ litre
2. Illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) will increase by 31 cents/litre
3. Petrol (93 ULP and LRP) will increase by 29 cents/litre.
4. Petrol (95 ULP and LRP) will increase by 31 cents/litre.
5. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will increase by 58 cents/kilogram

According to the energy department the increase is due to changes in international factors, including an increase in crude oil prices and the prices of finished products.

The Department of Energy urges motorists to try and save fuel by using public transport and organising lift clubs.
