R2-billion drug bust in Gillitts

Three men were arrested in what's been called one of the biggest drug busts in recent memory.

MORE than R2 billion worth of uncut heroin was recovered during a drug bust in the Gillitts area last night.

An intelligence driven operation between the UMmhlali and Phoenix SAPS led them to a large property in Everton Road on Tuesday evening.

According to Stephen King from Waterfall Crime Watch, there are three houses on the property which is surrounded by high walls.

“Two foreign nationals and one South African was arrested,” said King. He also said that it is being called one of the biggest drug busts in recent history.
