Get your pets vaccinated at SPCA rabies clinic

The Kloof and Highway SPCA to host three day rabies clinic.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA Rabies Clinic morning session (Tuesday, 24 June) has already received good support with people being responsible by getting their pets vaccinated against this deadly but preventable disease.

The rabies clinic, run by The Kloof and Highway SPCA in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Rabies Project will run from Tuesday, 24 June to Thursday, 26 June with two sessions per day, from 9am to 11am and 1pm to 3pm in a marquee in the “Village Green” at the SPCA premises, next to the Nursery and Marilyn’s Tea House.

This clinic is a follow up to the first rabies clinic that was started in June 2012 following the dramatic increase in positive rabies cases around that time.

“Please ensure that all dogs are on leads and that all cats are contained in baskets or cat cages when bringing them to the rabies clinic. There is no charge for the vaccinations but donations are welcome,” said Lisa Gadd, PR for Kloof SPCA.

Rabies vaccinations need to be done annually to ensure the vaccine remains effective and thereby protect not only your pets but also your family and community. KZN is a rabies endemic area and dogs and cats are legally required to be vaccinated against rabies
