Mob sets fire to Inyanga’s property

A torch-wielding mob set fire to the house of a traditional healer in KwaDabeka.

A TRADITIONAL healer’s house in KwaDabeka was burnt down when a mob of people accused him of kidnapping and murdering children in the area.

All of the furniture inside the house was left in ashes as well as the three cars that was in the yard.

C-section residents said they are very disturbed by this attack on their Inyanga who was a great help in the community.

Makhosi Mbongwa said they were called out by a group of people with torches.

“At first we thought it was the police. We came out as we believed that the perpetrator had been found. Next thing we knew Doctor’s house was on fire.”

The traditional healer is known to his community as DR or ‘Doctor’ as the residents said he was a great help to them.

“He was a great healer and even transported us to the clinic if need be. The people who did this are not even from this area, we are very saddened by this.

This came after rumours that a child in the area was kidnapped and kept in the traditional healer’s house. The child allegedly escaped through the window.

“We found it hard to believe that he can do something like this, children in this area loved him and visited him in his house.

“And what is really confusing is the window that the child said he escaped through has burglar guards.

KwaDabeka Police communications officer, Cst Lungisani Xaba said no one has been arrested as there was no proof that the traditional healer kidnapped the children.
