Four nabbed with Telkom lead

Four men were arrested for being in possession of Telkom lead with a street value of R7000.

FOUR men were arrested by Pinetown police for being in possession of Telkom lead (which covers Telkom copper wire) on Wednesday. According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, it is alleged that the four men between the ages of 20 and 30 went to a scrap metal dealership in New Germany with the intention to sell the lead. The owner of the dealership alerted the police.

“Police arrived at the scene and arrested the men for possession of suspected stolen property. Telkom officials were also alerted and upon arrival at the scene they positively identified the lead as the property of Telkom.

“At this stage it is unknown where the lead was stolen from. The street value of the lead is approximately R7000.

The four men appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court, facing charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property.
