Smooth sailing at Westville voting station

Voting process ran smoothly at Avon Junior Primary School in Westville on Wednesday 7 May.

IT’S smoothing sailing at the Avon Junior Primary School voting station in Westville, as some of Westville’s residents make their mark on the ballot papers during the 2014 National and Provincial elections today.

According to Geoff Morgan, a DA party agent, he has been monitoring the voting process alongside two ANC party agents since 7am.

“It’s been a brisk and incident free election day thus far. We even allowed children who accompanied their parents to vote into the voting station. They were really impressed and even demanded their own thumb print, which be obliged to,” said Morgan.

First time voter, Alexander Cox and Sasha Jarman said they were exciting about voting today. Sasha said it had been a really smooth process which took no more than 10 minutes.

Morgan will be working until 3pm, thereafter another party agent will take his place and continue to monitor the voting process until midnight when the last vote is counted.

The voting station will be open until 9pm so that all those residing in that area can cast their vote. Thereafter once the voting process is closed, IEC officials will begin counting the votes.

If you are 18, have a green bar-coded ID and have registered to vote but don’t know where your voting station is, SMS your ID number to 32810′. You will receive an SMS with your correct voting station.
