Roads closed for Tour Durban

Some roads will be closed to accommodate the cycle race. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes.

MOTORISTS take note of the temporary road closures for the aQuellé Tour Durban which takes place on Monday 28 April.

The races will once again enjoy full road closure, with the race committee assuring local residents that roads will be re-opened as soon as the last cyclists have cleared that section of the race route and the race safety officer and Durban Metro Police officers are satisfied that the road can be safely re-opened to vehicular traffic.

Road closures that will be in force on race day include Masabalala Yengwa (NMR Avenue) from 5.30am to 2.30pm, Margaret Mncadi Avenue from 5.30am to 8am, M4 South from 5.30am to 8.30am, M7 Edwin Swales and M19 to Pinetown from 6am to 9.30am, M19 Pinetown to Umgeni Road from 6.15am to 10am, Inanda Road (Springfield Park) from 6.30am to 10.15am, Riverside Road from 6.30am to 10.30am and M4 North both sides from 5.30am to 2.30pm.

The fun 45km ride, the third of the Tour Durban’s three features, from the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium to Mdloti and back offers popular sea views along the M4 highway and road cycling that is comfortably manageable for social riders. Durban looks set to enjoy ideal Autumn weather conditions for the three races that make up the aQuellé Tour Durban, with cool partly cloudy weather on the morning of Monday 28 April, giving way to clear skies in the afternoon and moderate temperatures.

The aQuellé Tour Durban is now also an official qualifying event for the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Momentum Cycle Tour.
