A 10-year-old boy died when he was hit by a taxi on the M13, west bound in Pinetown at approximately 7.10am this morning.
Derrick Banks, of ER24, said, “It is believed that the boy was hit by the taxi after he was dropped of by another taxi. According to witnesses, the boy ran in front of the taxi that dropped him off, where he could not be seen by oncoming traffic. He then ran across the road and was knocked by the taxi,” said Banks.
Chris Botha, of Netcare 911, reported that paramedics arrived at the scene and found him lying on the road, unresponsive. As they examined him, they determined that he had suffered extreme head injuries, and was later declared dead on scene.
