Zuma draws a crowd

The hot weather did not stop crowds of people from going to see President Zuma.

EXCITED crowds flocked to the Nilgiri Sports Ground to see President Jacob Zuma who was in Durban as part of the party’s election campaign.

Zuma started his campaign in Hammarsdale and was later attending a sectoral meeting in Wentworth.

Although Zuma arrived late people waited patiently, dancing and singing political songs.

People at the stadium said they wanted to speak to Zuma to tell him their grievances.

“We are hoping that the service delivery in this area will be quick once Zuma sees the circumstances we live under,” said a Nilgiri resident.

One of many elders who were at the stadium, Domethina Ntuzela, said she was very happy to see Zuma.

“I live in Thornwood and I borrowed taxi fare to get here. I wish that I can meet the President up close because I really need a house as the house I live in was damaged years ago, I am old and live with my grandchildren,” she said.

Zuma urged people to go out in numbers to vote on Wednesday 7 May.

“We know that there are a lot of things to be done regarding service delivery but we can not do it all at once.

“We have come so far as this year we are celebrating 20 years of democracy, lots of things have been done by the leading party and we will continue doing so,” said Zuma.

KwaZulu-Natal premier, Senzo Mchunu, said the ANC will try to speed up the process of giving people RDP houses, especially Mariannridge people.
