Police urge hit-and-run witnesses to come forward

A man in his late 20s died following a hit-and-run accident - police are seeking witnesses.

PINETOWN SAPS are appealing to residents who might have witnessed a hit-and-run that occurred on Friday 15 November 2013 in the left lane of the N3 (above the M7), heading towards Pietermaritzburg, at approximately 6.30pm, to come forward.

After the accident Makhaya Mgxanya (26) was taken to Albert Luthuli Hospital, where his family managed to track him down. Mgxanya died on Saturday 30 November.

Sgt Happiness Khwela, the investigating officer, said, “Mgxanya’s sister opened a case at the Pinetown SAPS on Friday 6 December, but no one else came forward to report it or say that they saw something. We urge anyone who might have information or witnessed the accident to come forward, and we also appeal to the driver of the vehicle that hit the deceased to come forward and tell his side of the story.”
