PUPILS in KwaZulu-Natal have been invited to test their general knowledge in the annual BDO Inter-Schools Quiz which will take place in April and May.
The popular and compelling quiz, organised by the Durban office of international audit and accountancy firm, BDO, has been running for five years.
Approximately 30 schools have already signed up to take part in the exciting event. Entries close Friday 4 April.
The quiz will take the form of a round robin competition in which four teams of Grade 10 and 11 pupils will be asked a series of general knowledge questions.
Four regional rounds will be held between Wednesday 9 April and Thursday 8 May at Westville Boys High School, St Anne’s Diocesan College, Glenwood High School and Durban Girls College. The finals will take place on 15 May at Clifton School.
The winning team will earn the right to choose an under-privileged school to receive R10 000 worth of books. Each of the four team members will also win the latest Apple iPod shuffle. The second prize is R500 worth of book vouchers.

The aim of the quiz is also to raise awareness amongst the KZN pupils regarding the needs of disadvantaged schools in close proximity to them, and to enable them to make a difference in the lives of pupils from disadvantaged communities.
In 2013 a team from Glenwood High School beat 48 teams from 25 schools to take the top spot. They chose to donate the R10 000 worth of books to Cato Crest Primary School in Durban.
