Cops bust cocaine users

Authorities successfully executed a bust at the Ashley Sport Club.

THE Pinetown SAPS together with the Ashley Residents Neighbourhood Watch (ARNW) arrested three men in their 20s at the Ashley Sport Club on Saturday night at approximately 11pm, for cocaine possession.

Authorities organised a raid and the men were subsequently arrested in a cubicle in the club’s restroom as they were preparing to use the cocaine.

According to the chairman of the Ashley Sports Club, Tony Piskolich, he received a call from one of the committee members who were on duty, warning him that there was some suspicious activity at the club.

“Unfortunately, the club is on municipal grounds, so we can not stop people from entering the grounds, but we do have security and CCTV cameras in place to prevent and discourage these and other illegal activities. We hope that the arrest will send the message out that we do not tolerate any illegal activities at the club. We work hard to maintain and uplift the club,” said Piskolich.

Justin Bosse, chairman of the ARNW, reported that they will working with the Pinetown SAPS and the Ashley Sports Club committee to locate and arrest drug dealers and other users who are planning to use the club’s facilities.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, the three men were charged with possession of cocaine and appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
