Four nabbed with car breaking arsenal

Westville police arrested four men in possession of car breaking implements.

Four men were arrested in Westville yesterday under suspicion of car breaking. According to a police report, at approximately 3pm on Tuesday 18 march, SAPS Westville Crime Prevention officers were patrolling the Westville central area when they spotted a blue VW Polo Classic with four occupants.

When police noticed occupants of the vehicle behaving suspiciously, they stopped and searched the vehicle, where they found items related to motor vehicle theft and theft out of motor vehicle.

Among those implements were a monkey wrench, four cell phones, digital camera, seven sets of car keys and other car breaking implements.

Police suspect the car keys are used to override victims’ alarms when parking.

The electronic equipment will be examined by experts to establish what they contain and what purpose they are used for.

The four suspects between the ages of 20 and 30 were detained at Westville SAPS and will appear in court soon facing charges of possession of car breaking implements.
