Chef school ‘treats’ SPCA

Chef school donates time and money to animal welfare.

THE 1000 Hills Chef School in Botha’s Hill recently renewed its annual patronage to the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

Owners, John and Chef Dixie, have been sponsoring five kennels at the SPCA for the last eight years to the value of R6 000.

The students at the school also visit the SPCA on a bi-monthly basis, during which they treat the animals under the SPCA’s care with gourmet dog biscuits, which they personally bake and distribute.

Barbara Laubscher, the fundraising manager at the Kloof and Highway SPCA said, “The school has provided consistent and wonderful support to the SPCA. We are very grateful to have their assistance. The SPCA would like to encourage other companies in the Highway area to follow their commitment regarding animal welfare.”

She also praised the students’ commitment in donating their personal time to the animals at the SPCA. “It is wonderful to see people donating their personal time to interact with the animals directly,” said Laubscher.

Lucinda Botha, the marketing manager at the 1000 Hills Chef School, said, “The school revels the opportunity to be involved in the community. It is good for our school to have an opportunity to not only teach our students about cooking and the industry, but also social responsibility.”

According to Botha, the school’s passion for cooking is only equalled by its passion for animals.
