Water outage expected in Highway area

Residents have been warned to use water sparingly while a major pipeline is being fixed.

HIGHWAY residents will be forced to use water sparingly after two valves on a major pipeline that supplies a local reservoir have broken in a closed position. This forced the water flow to come to a halt.

According to eThekwini Municipality officials, technicians are on site and are currently investigating the possible solutions to replace the valves. They noted that further problems were encountered due to the aged pipeline and size of the valve.

A specially made fitting is said to be needed to replace these valves. The municipality is utilising all its resources to repair this main as soon as possible.

The Hocking Place reservoir further supplies the Club House, the Hygarth and the Tshelimnyama reservoirs.

According to reports, both the Hocking Place reservoir and the Club House reservoir are empty and the water in other reservoirs are dropping.

Residents in areas where water is still readily available are asked to use it sparingly.
